Some Details...

We are a Derby-based covers band with an obsession for the past and a desire to entertain, but most importantly, we're all about having fun! Our comprehensive portfolio of songs spans more than 3 decades with a natural midpoint of '76.

Background

The chances of finding 5 band-worthy talented musicians amongst a group of 300 colleagues is slim, but somehow we managed it! Hence 1976 was formed at our workplace in Belper near Derby in 2008. Since then, we have undergone the painstaking process of combining our eclectic musical tastes to produce a unique retro concept.

Our aim is to take our listeners back in time, playing songs that everyone loves, but with our own unique, but accessible twist. If we had to define our style, it would be named "disco-metal" and this due to the strong influences of two particlar band members - you can read more about them on our "The Band" page.

Our gig at the Cross Keys pub in Turnditch near Derby was proof that our concept works - the venue was filled to bursting with satisfied music fans who just couldn't get enough - we raised over £300 for our local charity.

Since then we've had a slight change to the line-up, and we warmly welcome Sarah Jones as our new lead singer. She has added another layer of unique style to the group (and a little more youth too!).
