Daniel James announces UK tour supporting Sam Smith

NEW EP ‘AIN’T NO MONEY’
OUT ON THE 20th JULY
SAM SMITH SUPPORT DATES ANNOUNCED
NEW SHORT FILM AVAILABLE TO WATCH NOW
Following the release of his debut single ‘The Bridge’, Daniel James released his debut EP ‘Ain’t No Money’ on 20th July through Grey Sky Records.
After premiering on both Zane Lowe and Clash, ‘The Bridge’ received further support from the likes of The 405 and Sunday Times Culture, with Culture calling the single a “folk-rock belter”.
Hailing from Northern Ireland but now residing in London, Daniel James garnered attention after debuting tracks online last year. Brought up on his parents’ record collection of David Bowie, Van Morrison and Motown, Daniel only began writing songs after the loss of his grandmother, who had been a huge influence during his childhood.
An avid documentary film watcher, Daniel takes song inspiration from sourcing topics which he relates back to his own experiences and conveys through his unmistakable voice and unique take on pop that combines soul, folk and gospel.
A new short film, which has just launched today, takes the viewer through the background to Daniel’s music, showing where he grew up and what inspires and influences his sound. It is available to watch here: http://po.st/z74Znb.
The lead track from the EP is the title track ‘Ain’t No Money’ which is wrapped in personal metaphors about greed, money, power and dancing with the devil. It builds slowly with gospel influenced vocals before launching into a huge soul chorus backed by sharp keys and intense guitars. The EP also features three other tracks ‘We Are The Fire’, ‘We Own Our Love’ (acoustic) and ‘Waster’, with a special full recording of ‘We Own Our Love’ available now as a free download on the Daniel James Facebook page. ‘Ain’t No Money’ can be listened to here: https://soundcloud.com/thisisdanieljames/daniel-james-aint-no-money/s-OSR2m
