Kola are a folk band from Cornwall who evolved over the winter of 2010/11.
Song Writer and front man Ryan Jones tempted Jazz Drummer Harry Harding in to forming a new band with the offer of a tour that didn’t exist! Harding was left without money, work or accommodation. He had little choice but to spend a bleak winter squatting in the abandoned recording studio known as The Orphanage that Ryan had arranged to stay in. After a winter of recording the partnership had blossomed with the birth of a live act called Kola. Later the duo were Joined by Annie Gray on Violin, Keys and Vocals and Daniel Cole on the acoustic guitar.
Obvious influence can be heard in Kola’s music from such greats as The Water boys, Fleetwood Mac, Credence Clearwater revival and The Kinks but Ryan states his biggest influence as coming from ‘The Band.’
Their E.P "Ruins" was released on the 10th of November 2011, and 2012 is already promising great things for the band, with a tour of the UK in April and May both performing as a duo and full band.
