LAURA CANTRELL - UK TOUR 2013 - GLEE CLUB NOTTINGHAM & GLEE CLUB BIRMINGHAM
Nashville singer-songwriter Laura Cantrell brings her new album tour to Glee Club Nottingham on Thursday 3rd October and Glee Club Birmingham on Tuesday 8th October 2013.
Laura Cantrell is a country music artist, born in Nashville, based in New York City. After moving to New York to attend Columbia College, she found country music kept her connected with her family roots. That interest was the motivation behind her long-running radio program on WFMU in Jersey City, NJ, The Radio Thrift Shop.
In her ten-year recording career, Cantrell has released three acclaimed albums: Not The Tremblin' Kind, When The Roses Bloom Again, and Humming By The Flowered Vine.
She has toured extensively and was a favourite of pioneering DJ John Peel, who called her 2000 album Not The Tremblin Kind "my favourite record of the last ten years, possibly my life."
Cantrell's music has also been celebrated in the press including features in The New York Times, O Magazine, Elle, and the Wall Street Journal. She has also appeared on numerous US TV programmes including Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and the Sundance Channel's Spectacle: Elvis Costello.
Last year, Cantrell released Kitty Wells Dresses: Songs Of The Queen of Country Music, a recording she made in honor of one of her heroines, the great Kitty Wells. Laura's new album No Way There From Here on Shoeshine / Spit & Polish Records will be released this September, and thrillingly contains her first new material for eight years.
