By popular demand, Anarcho-pop stars MARTHA are pleased to announce a vinyl re-issue of their 2012 self-titled EP on Brighton's Tuff Enuff Records.
MARTHA first laid their unique brand of political pop to record at the hands of an Icelandic Welder in a Gateshead garage in the winter months of 2012. Treading the line between history and fiction, Martha's debut features five neatly packed vignettes of love and loss against backdrops of social struggle and the end of the world.
Hailing from Pity Me near Durham, MARTHA released their debut album Courting Strong in 2014 via Fortuna POP! Providing energetic, impassioned pop punk, Martha are informed by the likes of The Beautiful South, Squeeze and Scandinavian Anarcho-punk. Live Martha are a power pop explosion. Known for their intricate vocal interplay and lush four part harmonies, Martha have excited crowds with their North Eastern charm.
In 2014 “Courting Strong” was included as one of NPR's favourite albums of the year and the single “Sleeping Beauty” recently won Steve Lamacq's Rebel Playlist vote on BBC 6music by an overwhelming majority. With a busy 2015 already lined up for the band, now is the ideal time to revisit where it all began.
