Following the release of their new album Lady From Shanghai (due out on Fire Records TODAY!), Pere Ubu will be touring the UK extensively in April as well as appearing at the Deerhunter curated All Tomorrow's Parties Festival in June.
Lady From Shanghai is the 17th studio album by Pere Ubu, coming thirty-five years after the band's debut, The Modern Dance (1978). The album ushers in a new era in the history of Pere Ubu, with David Thomas and band continuing to provoke and shock listeners, further establishing them as one of the most innovative, progressive and important bands of all time. Full bio info and frequently asked questions can be found here: http://www.ubuprojex.net/resources.html
"Smash the hegemony of dance. Stand Still. The dancer is puppet to the dance. It's past time somebody puts an end to this abomination. Lady From Shanghai is an album of dance music fixed." David Thomas - Pere Ubu
Accompanying the release of the album, and sold separately, is a book of 'liner notes,' Chinese Whispers by David Thomas. A 100-page paperback, it is the 'Missing Manual' to Lady From Shanghai.
Supporting Pere Ubu for the April tour will be Fire Records' labelmates Variety Lights, the wild new musical project from ex-Mercury Rev vocalist David Baker.
