Biography
As a child, I would love singing along to records in my bedroom.
When I was nine years old, my dad bought the album; ‘Guilty’ by Barbra Streisand and Barry Gibb. I fell in love with the album, and I was determined to sing all the songs.
My parents were very supportive and sent me for classical singing lessons.
I joined my first band ‘One For The Road’ aged 16, and in the years that followed, I sang with various bands and musicians in my local area.
In 2005, I began performing on a far more regular basis, appearing at folk clubs with folk band ‘Odd Folk’, then joining ‘Clancy’s Shed Band’ a rock ‘n’ roll band from Nottinghamshire.
I have appeared as a guest with heavy rock band ‘Toxic Federation’ and jazz quartet ‘Djongology’.
In 2010, I was included in the line up with the popular 1960’s Nottingham band the fabulous ‘Beatmen’ (Pye records).
In 2011, I joined The Great Central Railway Band ‘Top Link’, where I shared vocals with Mick Carr.
From 2010 until 2014, I was lead vocalist with my band ‘Reflections’, who played a variety of music including rock, pop, blues, jazz, rock ’n’ roll and country.
Since November 2010, I have been writing and recording songs with friend and ‘Reflections’ guitarist Nigel Smith (from ‘Andwella’s Dream’ CBS Records).
We have written many songs together.
In March 2015, I joined blues rock band ‘Dead and Buried’ as lead vocalist. Then in 2016 I also joined ‘The Franchise’ ( http://www.franchisepop.co.uk ), a pop covers band.
In February 2018, ‘Sarah and the Ducks’ was formed, a 1950’s rhythm and blues band with professional musicians; Steve Peters, Richard Smith and Roger Keay and myself on lead vocals.
In 2019, I decided to try something new and joined ‘The Duchess Players’, a theatre group that perform pantomime in my home town.
During COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, I decided to venture into performing solo gigs, to run alongside gigs with my current bands.
