CALLING ALL BANDS: Short of gigs?? Fed up with chasing venues for work?? Call SMOKING GUN. Energised by the success of a self-organised charity gig in January 2009, Smoking Gun are now planning a series of multi-band gigs. Planned events will typically be 3 Bands for £5 entry. Due to the decline in the Pub trade, caused by cheap unregulated booze from supermarkets, and greedy breweries, hard-pressed pub landlords are becoming more reluctant to pay out for a band that plays to a handful of punters. If you're a Band looking for work, and haven't yet got that bus-load of fans that will turn up at every gig, call Mike Shaw on 07774-002534.

SMOKING GUN got together in late 2007, and deliver no-nonsense, in-yer-face stylized blues-rock music with a difference: Most of the numbers in the live set come from well known artists in the blues-rock arena (Dr Feelgood, Nine Below Zero, Eric Clapton, BB King, Rory Gallagher, Tom Petty), but SMOKING GUN avoid the overplayed hits and go for lesser known but equally good songs from those artists.

A local Landlord said: "I get dozens of CDs from cover bands wanting to play in my pub, and it's all the same stuff. YOU GUYS ARE DIFFERENT; you tackle quality songs from well-known artists-NOT the overplayed hits. This makes the crowd think; 'Where have I heard this before?' instead of 'Oh-no, not that song again'".

The four guys in the band have been around the musical block several times each, and have a wealth of musical experience tucked under their belts.

Mike Shaw’s "gravelly" vocals, and Dave Woan’s incendiary guitar work are driven along by the rock solid rhythm section of Graham Ford on bass, and Mike "Lefty" Miller on the drums.

Don't expect a cosy night out with SMOKING GUN. We just do what we do and we do it with a passion!

SMOKING GUN are not going to be fingered as ‘just another covers band’, and are currently working on several original numbers. "Who Needs to Drink?", and "Me & the Blues" feature in the current set, with more to follow.
