[SQUOZE] is a new event that provides young singer/songwriters with a platform to promote their music. The launch event features David Gibb and Lucy Ward, two young folk/pop singer/songwriters from the East Midlands, and will be held at the University of Nottingham's Lakeside Arts Centre. David and Lucy will be performing individual sets and along with a few pieces together, so it should be quite a special evening. Artist details:
David Gibb is a Derbyshire based song-writer playing pop and folk music. Since releasing his debut album, The English Retreat, in early 2009, his music has been featured on BBC Radio 1, 2 and 6; includng a live session for Radio 1’s Huw Stephens. He will be performing with his band, The Pony Club, featuring Julian Butt, Elly Lucas, Ben Dew and Sam Jordan.
Lucy Ward is a rising young star on the British Folk Scene. A finalist in the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards, Lucy’s vocal talents have been compared to the likes of Sandy Denny and Eva Cassidy. She has recently supported Seth Lakeman, Steve Tilston, Tams & Coope, Jim Moray and Harvey Andrews.
