The Transpennine Sessions - Tom McConville and the Free Range String Band
This high energy show includes songs, tunes and some amazing clog step dancing with material ranging from dustbowl ballads to bluegrass, old time and fast moving Celtic music brought to you by four highly accomplished performers. With the Pennines as the hub the show musically links Scotland and the Borders in the north, Ireland to Appalachia out west, then back over the moors as fas east as South Shields! The show is a roller coaster of musical delights and, of course, great singing all presented with Toms imitable sense of humour and style.
Jane and Phil Waites, based in Newbiggin-in-Teesdale, and John Burge form the Free Range String Band. Jane plays fiddle/whistle and is a champion clog dancer, Phil is an excellent flatpick guitarist and band vocalist, and John excels on mandolin and bouzouki. This is part of the Village Ventures programme.
Tickets are Adults £8 (£6 in advance), Family (2+2) £15, Children £3 and are available from the church office 0115 9431164.
