A peerless performer on both violin and viola he is also widely admired as a conductor and educator. This gala concert offers the opportunity to experience this mesmerising artist as both conductor and soloist. Launching the concert with Rossini’s irrepressible overture to the Barber of Seville, he then takes up his violin for Beethoven’s majestic concerto. Reaching new heights of inspiration, this is Beethoven at his most assured and serene, with endlessly inventive melodies pouring from the violin. Dvorak’s bright and breezy 8th Symphony puts the seal on an evening to remember.
