Blackballed + Stevie Jones &The Wildfires at The Latch LifterDate: Fri 4th Nov Time: 20:30 BLACKBALLED 2019 was destined to be another great year for Blackballed, with gigs and festivals already booked, and plans to record their 3rd studio album. Unfortunately in April due to personal reasons, Leon decided to leave the band. This left Marshall and Tom with the tough decision whether to call it a day or carry on. The guys hired a stand in drummer to honour the confirmed gigs. The gigs were a great success, so the search for the “New Guy” was on… After months of auditions in stepped Alex Whitehead, a highly accomplished drummer with fresh ideas and a bold swagger. The later part of 2019 was spent writing and moulding the new Blackballed into the power house trio everyone had come to know and love. 2020… The first 5 months of this year rocked the music business, with all live performances cancelled… Blackballed however ploughed on, writing, recording and mixing their brand new album “Elephant in the room” - the bands first release with a record company and the boys are looking to amazing times ahead. Blackballed’s reputation as a band not to be missed grows as they continue to smash down the walls at every show, leaving a line of converted fans in their wake. “Blackballed stunned all of us first timers with the energy of their performance…to make it entertaining – you need to be good. You need to be an expert before you can break the rules, and, happily Blackballed are expert musicians. ” B Side Music Magazine https://blackballed.co.uk/ STEVIE JONES AND THE WILDFIRES Following in the footsteps of Steve Earle and The Dukes or Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers Stevie Jones and The Wildfires deliver their own unique blend of modern alternative rock centred around powerful acoustic-based songwriting. With a number of line up changes over the last decade they have released two studio albums and a live EP receiving favourable reviews and airplay including BBC Introducing, Planet Rock and BBC Radio Scotland. The 2015 debut ‘Stratigraphic Heart’ was recorded at Parlour Studios in Kettering with producers Russ Russell and Neil Haynes and featured Marshall Gill from Blackballed/New Model Army. The follow up 'Angels and Sirens‘ released in 2018 was produced by Adam Ellis at Deadline Studios, Leicester and splits between hard-edged guitar based material and more delicate acoustic arrangements - touching tales on everything from sex, love, politics to life in the music industry. Guests included accliamed guitarist Janet Robin (String Revolution, Lindsey Buckingham band) and Leicester songwriter Autumn Dawn Leader. Live their show is full of energy, edge and passion and they are just as happy in a small club or gracing larger stages. 2019 saw the release of the live EP 'Morningless Live' and a busy gigging schedule which included a well-received slot in at HRH Crows Festival at O2 Academy, Sheffield. Lockdown lead to Stevie writing and releasing a solo acoustic album 'Come In From The Rain'. On return to the live stage many of the songs from this album have featured in the set as full band versions alongside new material as they look towards creating their third album. https://www.facebook.com/steviejonesmusic The Latch LifterSouth StreetIlkeston Derbyshire DE7 5QQ (more) Would you like to see more information about The Latch Lifter?
