Binks Yard Jazz Festival at Binks YardDate: Sun 10th Sep Time: 12:00 Sunday 10th September 2023 – the perfect round up to a music-filled Summer at Binks Yard! Binks Yard is proud to be hosting the Nottingham Jazz Festival, and welcoming a shedload of renowned and talented Jazz musicians to our outdoor stage! With performances from jazz legends Antonio Forcione, Snake Davis, The Edgar Macias Quintet, and amazing sets from Jazz 2 Go DJs and Urban Intro – this festival is a MUST for jazz lovers. Antonio Forcione: Award-winning Antonio Forcione is a world acclaimed guitarist, composer and talented artist. He takes guitar to new levels of expression, and is a highly charismatic, energetic performer. Performing in multiple international tours all over Europe, Asia and as far as Australia – he has shared the stage far and wide with some of the world’s most accomplished musicians. Snake Davis: Snake Davis picked up his first saxophone at the age of 20, and studied jazz and light music at Leeds College of Music. He has spent several years travelling the world, playing soul music on cruise ships and in some of the best jazz clubs in America. Since then, Snake Davis has recorded more than 400 tracks, and works as a music composer, director, educator and examiner, helping the next generation of musicians with their success. Edgar Macias Quintet: Edgar Macias was born in Venezuela, before settling in the midlands and establishing himself as a sought after pianist! Edgar has worked on many major vessels including the Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria, and toured the world playing alongside acclaimed conductors and musicians. He formed his group to blend an eclectic mix of music, with styles such as hard bop, funk, latin jazz, brazilian, salsa and Venezuelan music. Regular members of his quintet are Chris Bowden on saxes, Tom Hill on bass, Miles Levin on drums and Richard Sealy on congas & percussion. In the last couple of years Edgar has been concentrating more in the Latin Jazz side for his quintet, which has recently been playing the music from Buena Vista Social Club’s debut album adapted for his quintet configuration, in celebration of this album / recordings 25th Anniversary last year. Jazz 2 Go DJs: Jazz2Go are 2 Nottingham DJs that love playing Jazz music from all around the world. They have been playing Jazz music for many years, with their music ranging from Latin Jazz, Fusion Jazz, Jazz funk and just about any jazz that you can think of! They first began their jazz career in the 80’s in Nottingham, and took their musical talent across the whole of the UK! For the past 3 years, they have also performed a weekly live jazz segment on Trax FM Radio Station! Urban Intro: Urban Intro are an accomplished 5–10-piece funk band, playing at gigs across the whole of the UK and Europe! Their musical ability is demonstrated through covers of well-known funk acts, soul band and takes on classic pop songs and contemporary chart toppers.
