VERBAL Warning continue to go from strength to strength since this new line-up revived one of Nottingham’s true old school punk rock bands.
This year has seen them play to big audiences all over the country including the prestigious Rebellion Festival - the world’s biggest punk festival - at Blackpool Winter Gardens as well as wowing drinkers at both the Robin Hood Beer Festival in the grounds of Nottingham Castle and the Derby Winter Beer Festival at the Assembly Rooms!
The band have built up a loyal following in the Notts and Derby areas with their own well-received razor-sharp material complemented by classic punk/new wave covers of old as well as the Verbal Warning treatment on other popular songs from down the years.
A Kick in the Verbals, the debut album, is still selling well at gigs and a new album is in the pipeline w! ith several of the songs that will be on it already firm favourites at gigs.
Verbal Warning’s early eighties incarnation built themselves an uncompromising reputation in the Nottingham area and played with some of the big bands of the day.
Chumbawumba, Conflict, Flux of Pink Indians, Rudimentary Peni, Napalm Death and The Subhumans all shared bills with the original Warning.
Paul, switching from guitar to bass, decided to resurrect the band almost four years ago and, after using the modern technology of the Internet to find Ian on drums and Lee on guitar, finally turned the years back to bring in John on vocals.
Since then they have supported the likes of UK Subs, Vibrators, Lurkers, Eddie and the Hot Rods, Tenpole Tudor, John Otway, Splodge, The Briefs, Penetration, Attila the Stockbroker, Vice Squad, Resistance 77, Riot Squad and Patrik Fitzgerald.
