Some Details...
The Sisson family have been farming for 5 generations totalling over 100 years.
Sandiacre Lodge Farm consists of 91 acres it has been farmed by the Sisson family since 1976 and you are sat in the original cowshed where the cows were milked twice daily, hence the name.
Between 1976 and 2001 Sandiacre Lodge Farm was a dairy farm producing milk, from then on it has reared beef cattle to sustain itself as a working farm. In the future we would like to be able to rear beef ourselves to serve in the Cowshed. In 2010 we re-established the orchard with old variety apple, plum, pear and damson trees which we harvest each year and will use within the tearooms.
The Cowshed has been here for approximately 150 years and has been altered considerably in that time, with the final size of the building taking shape in the 1950’s. In 2017 we decided to diversify by converting the tearooms, we carefully and sympathetically have restored the building.
We serve freshly prepared quality homecooked food and we are an environmentally friendly farm and tearooms. We are aiming as a farm to be totally organic in the next 5 years.
