Some Details...
When Ralaigh closed down their Factory in Lenton 'The West Indian Cavaliers decided to take over the beautifull ballroom and re-open it as Music Venue. Opening its doors in 1981 the 'Garvey was an instant stop off for reggae and rock artists of the time. This carried on for a number of years untill rave hit in the late 80s.
Dance music became the music of choice with various clubnights bringing all the biggest djs and acts to the club with the likes of the prodigy putting over 1700 people in the venue as the legend goes. Many years on and the club has a clutch of quality cutting edge clubnights and has recently started back with some reggae shows bringing the legendary DJ David Rodigan to the venue once again. The 'Garvey still holds the title for the heaviest soundsystem in the Midlands and to be honest the UK but our Soundman has hung up his clashing shoes.
